Tis the season for announcing things apparently, with Epic, Bioware and THQ announcing new games in the near future. Are Bioware really making a new Command and Conquer game? Will we get make dialogue choices, fall the the Nod side and punch Kane in the face for his snide insinuations? Those questions will finally be answered this weekend.


E-sports on the rise: MLG and Dreamhack scoop record viewing figures in 2011

E-sports’ growing popularity among spectators shows no sign of slowing down. The MLG have posted some remarkable figures from the 2011 season. Around 3.5 million unique viewers in total have tuned into MLG Pro Circuit weekends this season. The Pro Circuit National Championships in Providence, Rhode Island drew more than quarter of a million concurrent viewers at peak times, from 175 different countries.


Trine 2 release date announced, it’s tomorrow

Ridiculously pretty co-op platformer, Trine 2 will be hitting Steam tomorrow. The standard edition will cost £11.99 / $14.99 , and there’s also a digital special edition. It comes with a digital art book and the soundtrack and will set you back £17.99 / $24.99 USD. If you pre-order them now, you’ll get two bonus Team Fortress 2 items, a wizard hat and a spiky “War Head” helmet to “protect your thought-horde from dragons, sorcery, and other make-believe dangers.”


Max Payne 3 screenshots show Max’s many faces

Things have come a long way since Max monologued his way through the first game wearing this facial expression. Three of the four new screenshots show close-ups of Max’s three new looks. There’s the youthful Don Draper Max, washed up beard-of-sorrow max and Stone Cold Steve Austin Max, all looking mean, all firing guns. What do you think of the new Max? Get ready to judge his face. Star Wars: The Old Republic testers play for nine million hours in one weekend

Bioware recently threw open the gates of The Old Republic to anyone who wanted to try it out. The stress test initially put tremendous strain on the servers, but testers still managed to put in 12 hours of play each on average across the weekend. 725,000 testers logged in over Thanksgiving weekend, clocking up more than nine million hours between them.


Epic, Bioware, Bioshock Infinite reveals planned for VGAs, new THQ announcement this month

Now that the release armageddon that is November is over, it’s time for everyone to announce some new projects. The next week or so will be bustling with new announcements from Bioware, Epic and THQ, and we’ll get our first look at Bioshock Infinite for a while at this weekend’s Spike TV Video Game Awards ceremony.


Minecraft Lego! MINECRAFT LEGO!

Shut the shops down, people, Christmas is solved. Mojang have successfully pitched the idea for Lego Minecraft on Lego Cuusoo, a site that lets visitors vote on their favourite Lego prototypes. The sets aren’t in full production yet, but the idea has been so popular that the Cuusoo site has been struggling to deal with the traffic since Mojang man Daniel Kaplan tweeted about the project.


Terraria takes on Modern Warfare 3 on Steam
